BORGONOVO VAL TIDONE

Description
Nobile oppidum founded by Piacenza's Council in 1196 with a military, strategic purpose, its name (burgus novus or new castle) derives from the Fortress dating back to the 13th century and present site of the Council. Several families ruled here, among them we recall Visconti, Piccinino, Sforza, Farnese and finally, in 1850, the Zandemaria marquis. The local economy is mainly based upon agriculture and industry.
