THE ROARING TWENTIES IN VIGOLENO

Description
In the Twenties Vigoleno's fame travelled around the world thanks to the duchess Maria di Gramont Hugo, born princess Ruspoli, widow of duke Grammont and wife of Jean Hugo, son of the famous French writer. The aristocratic woman restored the beautiful borough in Piacenza with the money inherited from the first husband and here welcomed some of the most important people from showbiz and cultural circles of the time. Among these, there were Max Ernst the painter, Gabriele D'Annunzio (writer), Arthur Rubinstein (pianist), Anna Pavlova (Russian ballet dancer), Mary Pickford (American diva) together with her husband Douglas Fairbanks, Elsa Maxwell (writer) and Jean Cocteau (critic).
